RYT 200

Jason Walters is a musician, engineer, and has worked with the band 311 for about twenty years. He still loves music, but has passion for yoga and feels blessed to be a yoga teacher.

At around 20 years old he started to have severe lower back pain that prevented him from being able to sleep for more than an hour at a time without the help of alcohol and lots of ibuprofen. The pain spread all the way up to his neck and doctors couldn’t figure out what it was. Jason suffered until he was 34 years old and tried many remedies to no avail.

Finally, a smart doctor ran some blood tests and he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, which is a type of arthritis that affects the joints of the spine causing them to fuse together. Right around this time a couple of friends had mentioned yoga to him and after not being able to put his shoes on one morning due to the stiffness in his back, he decided to finally give it a try.

Jason feels that the yoga asanas restored his health and improved every aspect of his life dramatically. A few years later he decided to take the yoga teacher training through the Yoga NoHo Center in Los Angeles. Jason has been teaching yoga for over 5 years and has intense gratitude for being able to teach and practice yoga daily.
